Face painting enables the child ( the live canvas) to stay still in the middle of any social gathering, in today's society, the cultivation of inner peace becomes more and more necessary for each one of us. Modern living can be very chaotic sometimes, so as soon as a human being learns how to control themselves and cultivate inner peace in any circumstance as better. The new generation faces the greatest challenger of all, that is how to control their emotions to solve external conflicts. The fast-paced modern life in the big metropolis like Los Angeles creates the environment of impatience and anxiety that can lead individuals to develop illness and emotional imbalance.
Face painting as therapy - Antistress
In order to allow the face paint artist to perform a specific design, the subject must learn stillness and be in a relaxed state of mind, the person getting their face painted can NOT be talking and moving on the chair, but be still with their eyes closed and BREATH. The key to face painting therapy is the breath, it is SCIENTIFICALLY proved that breath with eyes closed is a therapeutic ANTI STRESS technic, so, while the face paint artist is applying the painting, it naturally causes a relaxing feeling of wellbeing. I have learned over 15 years as a professional face paint artist that most of my clients feel relaxed durant and after they had their faces painted. Why? Before I start I ask the person ( usually a child ) to close their eyes ( when somebody closes their eyes in the middle of a social gathering they are learning 2 things = TRUST and HOW TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ) and then I ask the child to take 5 deep breaths, this technic allows the child to learn how to get introspective. I usually take 5 minutes to complete a full face painting mask.
Face painting - Have fun and learn fast
Five minutes of introspection in the middle of any social gathering gives the child the chance of being in the moment without the use of one of the most important human senses ( the vision). I believe this methodology helps hyperactive children learn how to control their self and cultivate patience and inner peace. It is also scientifically proved that the human brain assimilates better when the cerebrum is in a relaxed state of mind and when the person is happy or having fun. Most children LOVE face painting! After spending five minutes with their eyes closed the child is curious to see the end result when I finish and tell them to open their eyes, their reactions is almost ALWAYS the same: BIG SMILE and WOW !!! When one is happy our brain release EndorphinsSo it makes sense to say that face painting make children happier and is a modern tool to help improve academic skills.
